Forests. Climate. Community.
Better Paper Project participants have shown extraordinary dedication to promoting the ideal of a sustainable publishing system. To recognize their commitments and accomplishments, we've created a unique Better Paper Mark to identify them as recycled paper publications, magazine industry leaders, and Better Paper Project participants.

Better Paper participants who use Environmentally Improved or Environmentally Superior Paper as defined by the Environmental Paper Network Paper Steps are eligible to use the Better Paper mark on their publication and Web site. Magazine papers must contain a minimum of 30% post-consumer recycled content, with FSC certification on papers with more than 50% virgin content. Additionally, fiber may not come from controversial sources and should be Enhanced Elemental Chlorine Free (EECF)2, Processed Chlorine Free, or Totally Chlorine Free.
Participants who have accepted the terms of our licensing agreement are provided with an InDesign electronic document, which includes multiple iterations of the mark (in green/yellow, monochrome green, and black/white) for both online and print use. We also provide participants with the URL to which the mark should be linked.
