Aveda Environmental Award

As Better Paper participants, your paper purchasing decisions and policies send a clear signal to manufacturers about what to produce, while your eco-related articles spread the green vision to millions of readers. The Aveda Environmental Award is one of the many ways we reward the best of the best for outstanding environmental publishing.

When judging applications for the Aveda Environmental Award, we will give the greatest weight to a magazine's paper and production choices followed by procurement policies and educational efforts.

The judges for the Aveda Environmental Award have more than 60 years combined experience with paper and publishing. They use predefined criteria to select winners for each category of award. The three categories of the Aveda Environmental Award are:

• New Launch | Applicants for this category should be magazines that launched for the first time since January 2007.

• Improved Environmental Commitment | Applicants for this category are magazines that have made some environmental improvement to their magazine business since January 2007. It is possible for the same magazine to apply for this category and “Long-time Environmental Leader.”* *

• Long-time Environmental Leader | Magazines that have demonstrated environmental publishing leadership for at least the last five years are eligible to apply in this category. It is possible for the same magazine to apply for this category and “Improved Environmental Commitment.”* *

  * Only applications submitted online are eligible. The PDF is provided only so that you can read and share the application prior to filling it out online, but we will not accept it as an official application.
  * * Magazines applying for two awards will need to fill out both applications, paying a $50 fee for the first and $35 for the second.
