  1. Write an environmental stewardship policy
    An environmental stewardship policy helps illustrate a long-term vision, articulate key principles and demonstrate commitment to sound stewardship.
  2. Increase the recycled fiber content of your paper
    Our Better Papers tab provides access to a number of paper tools, including a comprehensive list of recycled magazine papers.
  3. Join a Better Paper Buying Club
    If you're interested in learning about our Better Paper Buying Clubs, check out our recorded Webinar, Lower Prices For Better Paper, then take a supplementary, confidential survey that will help us better serve your individual paper needs.
  4. Participate in Better Paper Project promotions
    Online and in-store promotions that highlight your publication's use of recycled paper are an effective way to market your environmental commitment to your readers.
  5. Place the Better Paper Mark on your cover or in your masthead
    Better Paper participants who use Environmentally Improved or Environmentally Superior Paper as defined by the Environmental Paper Network Paper Steps are eligible to use the Better Paper mark on their publication and Web site.


  1. Promote recycled paper publications
    Promoting magazines printed on recycled paper in online and in-store displays will alert consumers to the issue, demonstrate your store's environmental commitment and encourage magazine publishers to make the right environmental decision.
  2. Improve distribution efficiency

    Let them know that you appreciate their environmental commitment.
  3. Encourage magazines to switch to recycled paper
    Publishers are more likely to make responsible environmental decisions when they know they'll have reader support.
  4. Recycle magazines when you're finished reading them
    The Environmental Protection Agency provides information on paper recycling for students, teachers and everyday citizens.
