Better Paper Project

Forests. Climate. Community.

As a follow-up to the post about Green America's plan purchase paper in bulk, I'm starting a discussion here for anybody who might be interested in joining us.

We plan to order the 45 lb My Connection stock from Myllykoski. Once again, we will be working with New Leaf Paper as our paper vendor. We have been buying paper in bulk with New Leaf for many years and the process is pretty seamless.

If you are interested in the seeing how purchasing paper in bulk can help you control costs, how the process might work or any other questions on the subject, please jump in.

Cheers

Dennis

Thanks for launching this discussion, Dennis. I thought I'd start with a few more details on the paper we'll be supplying for the Green American. MY Connection satin is made with 85-100% recycled fiber and 20-30% Post-Consumer Waste. It has a brightness of 80, opacity of 91 and caliper of 2.30 (870 ppi) at the 45# basis weight. (It is also available in 50#, 55# and 60#.)

There is a great opportunity here for publishers to (1) experience the economic benefits of co-operative buying, (2) realize the environmental benefits of using recycled paper and (3) promote change in the industry by supporting a state-of-the-art recycled paper mill right located right here in the USA.

We're very pleased to have supplied Green America's paper needs over the years, and we're looking forward to extending our relationship to the Better Paper community.
